visit, where we can witness the world’s beautiful landscapes and the highest
peaks of the Alps. Even today backpackers wish to explore Lofoten Island for
its Svolvaer, a tiny town surrounded by the beautiful mountain peaks making it
a great spot to enjoy sunset and sunrise.
However, as an adventure seeker they have to come across different
angles of Islands, like A i Loftoten- a village often for its location where it
located at the end of the world. Villages such as Nusfjord, Henningsvaer and
Sakrisoy are often known for their intrinsic beauty and perfect atmospheres,
which makes every backpacker left in an awe inspiring situation here in Lofoten
Island.
Beaches are part of the Lofoten Island, each one are known for its
crystal clear water and a great place to see Northern Lights from the Norway
side. Some beaches are creed and some are not, also beaches like Hauklan and
Eggum are often known for watching memorable sunset views and clear views of
Aurora. Don’t miss out on reaching Uttakleive, Vik and Unstad beaches.
How to Get to Lofoten Islands
Let’s discuss with 4 valid points on how to get to the Lofoten Islands
in Norway;
1. Taking a Flight to Bodø
The most common way to reach Lofoten Island is through flying into BodøAirport (BOO). Flying from Oslo to Bodø is the main gateway to the Lofoten
Islands. From Bodø Airport visitors are eligible to choose ferry or short
flight services. The ferry operates daily from Bodø to Moskense for those who
made early booking. Even flights like Widerøe run to Leknes and Svolvær places.
All these places are a gateway to Bodoø. This airport is well-connected to
major cities in Norway, like Oslo and Tromsø.
2. Through Ferry Ride
There are a number of ferry services operating to Lofoten Island. From
Bodø, take a ferry operated by Hurtigruten or another ferry service to Moskenes
or Værøy in the Lofoten Islands. However, the ferry runs even from Bognes to
Lødingen and from Melbu to Fiskebøl. But Bodø to Moskenes most recommended one,
you'll reach within 4 hours of time with the inclusion of great accommodation
cars. Book your ferry ride prior especially during summer at Reis Norrdlan, free for foot
passengers. The ferry ride offers scenic views of the surrounding fjords.
3. By Driving a Car
If you prefer driving, then book a car or taxi in Bodø and take the
ferry to cross over to Lofoten. Take your car via the scenic E10 route, which
connects the mainland of Norway. Book your car from Narvik to Bodø, which takes
not more than 4 hours to reach its mainland. Despite that, visitors even take
driving from Tromso to Svolvaer and from Steinkjer to Bodo, both long journeys.
Those who wish to travel through car driving, must adhere to road safety and
parkings policies. Especially E10 has narrow sections and narrow tunnels and
bridges. Coming through a car is a great way to allow more flexibility and the
option to explore the islands at your own pace.
4. By Bus Services
Take Line 300 public bus, most recommended and help you to reach
Svolvaer village along with traveling to Lofoten Island. There are also bus
services available from Bodø to various locations in Lofoten, providing an
alternative means of transportation if you don't wish to drive or take a ferry.
The Arctic Route runs daily, buses connecting Lofoten to Tromsø including
Henningsvaer and Reine.
